You can measure your ring yourself by getting a ring sizer

You can request a ring sizer from www.Tiara.com.sg at most of the ring's product pages where you can also see the image of the ring, so once again you don't need to leave home to complete this ring measuring process.

In general, a plastic ring sizer belt tape with a wide gradient of rings sizes is one of the best ring sizers you can find for measuring women's and men's fingers.

The most common ring sizes for men and women

Adults generally wear rings ranging in sizes from US ring size 4 to 14. For example, the size of the average women's ring size ranges from US ring size 4 to 10 whereas that of the average man's ring size typically falls between US ring size 7 to 14. This is true for Singaporeans as well.

How to know if your ring size is correct?

The ring should be able to fit comfortably on your finger: snug enough not to slip off but still slightly loose enough so you can slide over the knuckle without being too tight. A good sign of a perfect fit is if your ring slides on comfortably over the knuckles with a little room to spare. You don't want it too tight, but you also don't want any sliding around; this may scratch or damage other surfaces in close proximity.

In order to assess your ring sizes accurately, you should know a few important points:

Take a moment to consider your knuckle. If you have large knuckles, we recommend ordering 1/2 size larger than the ring size indicated just by your finger measurement. Otherwise, you won't be able to slide the ring on. Take note too if you are getting men's gifts as there are some sports which might widen the knuckles.

It would help if you tried multiple times to ensure accuracy. It has been recommended by several individuals that you measure your finger 3 to 5 times. This is because the finger size varies with the temperature: if you're cold, your finger will probably be smaller; if you're hot, your finger will probably be larger. This will help you search for the right size.

If you follow these three methods, knowing what size a ring is should be easy and help you get a suitable piece of jewellery, whether it be a gift for yourself, your love or a wedding ring.

1) Ring Size Wrap Method: Cutout and measure

Please make sure that you use a ruler to measure the bar on the top right of the printed paper. It should measure 3cm exactly. If it's not, the sizing will not be accurate.

Carefully cut the ring sizer out and use it like the ring sizer above in option 1. You will need to be very careful in making sure the cutout is accurate, especially the pointed end and also for the slit of the hole to not be too wide.

As it is made of paper, printing on a thicker piece of paper will be ideal.

2) Matching Method: Placing an existing ring on the ring size chart

If you already own a ring that fits well, you can use this measurement. Print off a proper ring size chart like this one from Tiara.com.sg above and then placing your ring on each circle till you find one that corresponds with your ring's inside circumference.

Important: The inside circumference of the ring should not fully cover the entire circle. The correct ring size match is the last ring size circle which you can still see the edges of the printed circle without being fully covered. 

Example of an incorrect measurement: Ring size 9 will fully cover the printed US size 10, this is incorrect. Ring size 9 will fully cover printed US size 11 also because it has overshot the sizing.

Correct measurement: When the physical ring size 9 is placed on top of the printed US size 9, you will still be able to see the edge of the printed ring size around the ring. 

When measuring the ring size, pick the one that covers almost the entire inner edges of the ring. It is important to note that using a larger circle will hide the inside edges of your ring as well, so try out different circles and make sure your eyes are directly on top of the chart (not sideways) to be sure your ring size is accurate. You can use a pen to tip on the edges too to trace it out.

Measuring your finger with string, paper or dental floss

Strings can be used to measure ring sizes, or you can use dental floss, which is a common household item. Mark the spot where you can see the string or dental floss overlaps and mark it with a pen when you wrap 1 of these measurement device round the base of the finger. Using the ruler, pen and paper, measure its length in millimetres and mark it on the piece of paper and ruler with a sharp pen. Look at the markings on the paper to measure the length or circumference. Try this a few times using the string and straighten it out with the ruler before measuring and then look at our ring size chart or ring size guide to have the conversion. 

Rule of thumb: 0.4mm inner diameter increase is half size up

The standard ring size is by 0.4mm increments, so size 4 equals 14.86 millimetres, size 4.5 equals 15.27 millimetres, size5 equals 15.7 millimetres, etc.
